Rosenberg Aquatic Center

This project challenged the design team to incorporate a 50-meter pool in the space of an older 25-yard pool, sandwiched between a 1948 masonry gymnasium and 1996 steel field house. Working with the Aquatic Director, Athletic, Building and Grounds, and Finance departments we produced an existing conditions assessment, a review of concepts and budgets developed to date, potential alternatives, and procurement strategies for this new natatorium. The resulting concept includes the pool, an elevated spectator gallery and supporting filtration, offices, team and storage spaces. A custom pool profile and fiberglass bulkhead provide flexibility for the School’s K-12 aquatic programs, equally accommodating six-year-old beginners and the varsity water polo team.
